What Moves a Price
- Access. Open-yard fells are fast; backyard trees over the fence line, above the pool, or beside the service line take rigging time. Gate width matters โ tell us on the call.
- Lean and structure. A vertical pine is one thing; the same pine leaning 15 degrees toward the bedroom is a different job entirely.
- What's underneath. Roof, fence, garden beds, septic lines, buried utilities โ everything under the tree either speeds us up or slows us down.
- Species and condition. Dead, brittle wood is unpredictably dangerous; dense hardwoods (pecan, oak) take longer to cut than pine.
- Volume. Multi-tree and whole-property jobs price out meaningfully lower per tree than singles โ one mobilization, one cleanup.
- Season. Standard rates year-round. We don't charge more because it's storm season; we do triage emergencies first during active weather.
Our Pricing Policies
- Estimates are free across our core routes (Tuscaloosa, Northport, Cottondale, Vance, Brookwood, Moundville) โ written, itemized, and valid for 30 days.
- The written quote is the price. No hourly meters, no "while we were out here" add-ons. If we missed something major, we eat it or we talk to you before continuing.
- No payment upfront. Residential payment is due on completion. Full-payment demands before work are a scam tell โ especially after storms.
- No disaster gouging. Emergency rates are higher than scheduled rates because the work genuinely costs more; they do not spike because your neighborhood is on the news.
- Honest "don't buy it" advice. If a tree is fine, or a cheaper option exists (a $400 cable instead of a $1,800 removal), that's what we'll recommend โ even when the bigger job pays us more.
Insurance & Financing Reality
Storm damage to structures is often claim-covered; preventive work on healthy trees usually isn't. We document everything for claims but don't promise coverage โ the adjuster decides. For larger jobs (land clearing, multi-tree storm packages), we can split work into phases so you can budget without financing gimmicks. We don't offer in-house financing and we're suspicious of tree companies that do โ a properly priced removal shouldn't need a payment plan.
